I [Annika Moses] was born on Wadjuk Noongar land in Gidgegannup [place of spears] and now live nearby Baigup wetlands on the Derbarl Yerrigan [so-called Swan River]. I regularly walk and work on Martu, Nyiyarparli, Gija, Bunuba lands, and with Walmajarri and Gooniyandi language groups. I pay my respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their elders past and present, and I thank them for their continued custodianship of this land.
I also acknowledge the resilience of Indigenous peoples everywhere, and as a white settler, I endeavour to listen to and centre Indigenous voices. I stand in solidarity with their struggle for sovereignty. I stand against the oppressive violence of colonial white imperialism that continues to be perpetrated globally. I stand in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and the diaspora with all my heart, hope, grief and rage. From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.
